The main principle of the article is that Albuquerque gangs and other gang organizations have developed a new trend. Conformity is act of bringing one’s behavior into agreement or harmony with norms or with the behavior of others in a group. The culprits in the article in order to become unified with their neighborhood gangs were easily convinced to commit rape upon innocent girls. They did not commit the crime because it was something that they do on a regular basis but rather as a way of accepting the norms of the gang and their society. These guys are intimidating.”2. “It has been happening here with sickening regularity.” 3.”They do not look like gangsters anymore. They’re pretty boys.” 4. Young men who want to be gang members are give a choice, said Johnny J. Armiho, they can get beaten up by other gang members or rape a girl.” 5.”It is not unusual for girls who want to become gang members to have to submit to rape by the rest of the gang he said, but this has turned into we’ll rape the innocent girl.” In my opinion the article is very hard to wrap my brain around. Conformity is completely comprehendible when it is in the form or work, school, friends, image etc. When it comes to imaging the men and women who actually become apart of the trouble filled gangs of Albuquerque and the conformity that they have formed as raping an innocent person, it angers me. These gangs have formed to create trouble. They have contributed to the hatred, pain, guilt, and heartache that many innocent people who wish the best for every one feel. In a way I believe that every last one of the culprits should have the chance to experience the torture that the innocent have had to experience, but two wrongs won’t make a right.
