National Australia Bank was established in 1893. At that period of time, it is rated as the most widely used in Australia. Moreover, NAB becomes larger at the moment as the one of the largest financial institutions and markets with the big size of capitalization and customers then NAB get into rank 17th as the largest bank measured by capitalization. It’s operational across to 10 countries with 8.3 million consumers and more than 2.3 million customers.

Like other bank did, NAB also expanded their business rapidly during 1981 to 2000. In order, during period 2000 to 2005, NAB faced the most difficult times they have ever had. NAB sold some of its subsidiaries including MNB, Home Side’s operation assets and others. Even worse, in 2004, NAB found staff fraud, staff use the unauthorized spot trades on its foreign currency option desk, in this case, the loss total up at $360 million. NAB’s reputation suffered a disastrous decline during this period. In 2009, new CEO was appointed, he start to use the strategy of reputation change, wealth management and a focus on Australia. As a part of this strategy, NAB cutting its fees in retail banking area in order to increase their market share. As competitive in financial institution by the time NAB make expansion of system and provides number of services by online banking system. For instance, typical checking and saving account, the investment account and students account.

However, the system has developed by human meanings there might be some problem coming up into the system. In fact, NAB’s E-Banking is not doing so well at recent days. Just in 3 months time, NAB’s internet banking site suffered two times major glitch (second glitch happened in Jan 2011).
