From the time of the early 1960’s to the end of the 1960’s, there were many different ideas, ideology, and things happening from wood stock, to Vietnam War for the U.S... And then there was the Soviet Union, where there was communism, and the fascist regimes running the country and the people lived under dictator ship. These will just be only a few of the things we look at, and discover in the upcoming pages, and how they not only affected both worlds, but defined theme and set them apart.

Communism and Socialism in the 1960’s:

When we think of the 1960’s we often think of things like hippies, drugs,

woodstock, road warriors, and fun wild times. But if I asked you about the Soviet Union, you would think things like the death of Stalin, and a communist regime and dictator ship, cold war with the United States and several countries as well. But here is much more than this, it was the turn of a century, and there were two different worlds colliding, and living. For instance the cold war was at an all-time high leading up to 1960. As stated on global security.org “By 1960, both sides had invested huge amounts of money in nuclear weapons, both as an attempt to maintain parity with each other's stockpiles, but also because the idea of deterring conflict through "mutually assured destruction" had come to be regarded as vital to the national interest of both.” http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/cold_war.htm. The Soviet Union and the United States differed at this time in the way that the United States was focusing on becoming a country more known for socialism. Things such Rosa Parks not giving up a seat on a bus, and Martin Luther King Jr. leading the protest to free her, and the order of the busses of Montgomery to be desegregated was just the...
