MEMORANDUM
To: Mr. Manager, Store Manager, Acme Mexico City
From: Working Employee, XYZ Consulting Company
Date: February 6, 2009
Subject: Daily Schedule for Acme Customer Service Employees
Based on the requirements of the proposal to develop a minimum cost daily assignment schedule for the customer service employees at the Acme Mexico City store, this memo will discuss the model developed to achieve optimal efficiency at a minimum cost to the company.
An integer linear program was developed to address the problem of labor restrictions. The model used to develop the assignment schedule for the Acme Mexico City store took into account the store hours of 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. daily, Mexican labor law, and employee safety and supervision rules. With the number of employees starting at each shift listed in the following table, the Acme Mexico City store will be able to meet the daily number of employees required for each shift and stay equal to or below the maximum number of employees allowed to work at a time.
