Abstract

The employment of management trends have been used by successful companies throughout time. Within are a few trends that have been used in the past in several industries as well as a look at a few present day and future trends. When companies look at past trends the information provides the ability to develop programs to facilitate managerial involvement in daily operations. Development of these trends will cause managers to take items such as the needs of the employee, social issues and environmental effects into consideration. Along with these trends are the ethics in which they are built. Many trends are derived from the perception of the “right” or wrong way to do business. Contained within is my idea of how personal and business ethics drive the innovation factor of management trends.

Management Trends in the Business World: Past and Present Trends

Mr. Fishbone, the floor supervisor of A&A warehouse, stood in front of his severely damaged warehouse doors. He yelled “This is going to cost someone their job!” Just as he finished the last syllable, Mr. Jackson, the owner of the company, walked through the rear door. He approached Mr. Fishbone and asked “Who’s responsible for this?” “I believe the responsibility is mine, sir.” remarked Mr. Fishbone. What would make Mr. Fishbone take responsibility for something he clearly did not do? In the past actions similar to Mr. Fishbone’s were very uncommon. Good management techniques were simple, even though most companies were run by fear. Over the years employees have struggled with trying to figure out what style of management would benefit them best. Employers have implemented many programs designed to facilitate their desired management objectives....
