Religeon and Abuse

The Fundamentalist Church of the Latter Day Saints is a prime example of religion being abandoned because of abuse. This can be sexual abuse, emotional abuse or physical abuse. If people are abused in any part of their life, then they are more likely to turn away from religion. They do not believe that God is there protecting them and watching over them. In the Fundamentalist Mormon Church, alleged sexual and physical abuse is not uncommon, and this leads to emotional abuse. When someone is relying on God, or hoping that God will help them through the difficult situation and nothing happens they start to lose their faith. This is what makes keeping faith and believing hard. When someone decides to believe in God, and they do not start to see results or any action taken, they are not given anything to sustain their energy to continue to output (Compton). Being a Christian is having a faith, not a religion because you have to believe without seeing or hearing. A religion is a set of rules and beliefs that are followed. In the case of the Fundamentalist sect. of the Mormon Church, the rules became stricter, while the beliefs stayed the same and no one was seeing results.

The Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints believes in direct communication between the Prophets and God. They believe that you have to go through the prophets to talk to God, and you have to obey what they say, because it is what God tells them to do. The Fundamentalist Sect. believes in the direct interpretations of the Bible even if it does not follow the Christian faith and morals Webster’s 565). They also believe that there are three different heavens, the first is the most glorious of them, celestial heaven, which is what men achieve after they are married to three different women or more, and they get to rule over their own planets in the afterlife.
