Assignment 1 Outline

I. Because of the size of the company, among other factors I might have discovered, Bandag Automotive’s HR management function should be reorganized because it can cut out the cost of outsourcing. You pay a lot more when you outsource certain jobs instead of keeping those jobs in-house. Most of the human resource activities can be complete by an employee who works directly under Bandag Automotive.

II. I recommend that the HR function be reorganized as follows:

a. One thing I would re-organize with the human resource management is hire a human resource manager to replace the employment agency. I would also hire a human resource assistant or a recruiter to assist the human resource manager. A recruiter can be hired to handle all of the daily work duties such as, screening and scheduling interviews and down to the hiring process.

b. I would replace the benefits firm with a benefit specialist to assist in the benefits department. What other way to have someone explain company benefits to an employee other than an employee who work for the company who receive the same benefits.

c. As far as the payroll service, that can be re-organized one or two different ways. The process of administering payroll checks could be handled by hiring a payroll specialist instead of a payroll service to handle paychecks. Re-organizing the company that way should reduce any company overhead. Those are a few ways I would re-organize Bandag Automotive.

d. I believe the human resource is one of the biggest aspects of a company success. Of course, after careful planning out the objective, there would be a need for a meeting with all the head managers to discuss the new ideas. This would help to see if any other ideas could be implemented in with the plan in order to achieve the best results as possible for the business.
