Jimi Hendrix 1942 - 1970

Question #1. Give a brief biographical sketch (one paragraph) of the musician or group and describe the style of music.

His dad buys him his first electric guitar when he is sixteen. He joins the Army in 1961 and discharged one year later. He plays in a few bands and moves to New York City in 1965. In 1966 he moves to London and forms his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience. He quickly becomes a legendary live performer with several of his performances still revered to this day. He dies in his sleep on September 18, 1970 while staying at the Samarkand Hotel in London.
