The most influential man that I have ever met is Pastor Walter August, Sr. He has shown himself to be faithful, honest, and trustworthy. These qualities are what keep me faithful to my ministry at the church. He leads by example when it comes to his relationship with God, his marriage and giving to the others the blessings that he has received. With every encounter with him I truly feel that I am in the presence of a God-fearing man.

Pastor August is the senior Pastor at the Church at Bethel Family in Houston, Texas. There he leads a congregation of over 10, 000 people. The congregation is taught to pray and seek God first in every decision that is made in our daily walk. He encourages me to remain faithful to God even when I am going through life’s challenges. Pastor August makes himself available for every church member, there is no hierarchy present. We are all equally important and it shows in the way he treats us.

Honesty in the marriage is one of the main focuses in his ministry. Pastor August makes it a point to not only acknowledge his wife, Sister Ruby August, but he is not shy when it comes to expressing his love for her. They have been married almost 30 years. He teaches me that with her in his life and by treating her with love and respect that he finds favor with God. Pastor August proclaims that Sister August is the only woman for him and he will never lie to or cheat on his wife. Because in doing so he curses God and the blessing that he has received with having her in his life.

My trust has been given to this man for he has made known that he is trustworthy. Pastor August teaches on tithing in the church. In doing so, he also is a faithful tither. Any member of the church can ask to see his financial records with the church that shows what he and Sister August personally contributes. He is doing such a great work in the community with feeding the hungry and providing educational programs there is no question where the money is being...
