Animal Rights and Medical Research
Introduction
Doing an experiment on animal is one of the controversial issues. Whether, it is ethical to do an experiment on the animals or, it is essential. There is always a debate on this issue. For centuries, many researchers use animal in their biomedical researches. According to the statistics only MSU has used around 8815 animal for its medial researchers. Most of the animals that has been used in these medical researchers were rats, mice and gerbils (DeGrazia pp.692-695).
The struggle against animal research has been one of the most debatable issues of the decade. Even though, most researchers need to do experiments on animals in order to achieve medical advances animal research should not be allowed because it is cruel and inhumane, it is not always accurate, and often unnecessary. The first reason why animal research should not be allowed is that testing on animals is cruel and inhumane.
According Clifford Sean in his book, "Animal Research", animal right researchers reveals this fact and information that most of the laboratories violate the animal rights. In this information, There is a video that shows how head of injury clinic in the university of Pennsylvania violate the human right while doing medial researches.
In the same book Alex Pacheco tells about the conditions he witnessed in a monkey laboratory, and expresses how horrified he was by the bitter experiments these monkeys have to go through (Bortolotti pp.1-8). In these laboratories, juvenile chimpanzees are infected with disease, put into tiny cages, and left ther for several years. This inhumane treatment should be used on brakers of the law instead of these innocent, unprotected animals. Animal research it is cruel and inhumane, but it is also sometimes inaccurate.
