Wanting to be accepted and admired by his peers, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook overcomes many trials and tribulations in the hit movie Social Network.

When you first hear the title “Social Network” you would probably never consider that this movie is about the life of Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg. After all, how exciting or entertaining could be life of a computer geek actually be? The movie reveals the account of how Facebook began and continues to gain popularity with now over 500 million users worldwide. Actor Jesse Eisenberg gives a wonderful performance in the role as Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg, portrayed as a cocky and arrogant jerk, you cannot help but at times to sympathize with this character and even pull for him to succeed. One of Zuckerberg’s top desires is to be accepted as an equal by the people he feels are most important. It's one of the characteristics that allows us to connect with him and makes him likable, for we all share this desire to be accepted by those around us.

The movie begins with Zuckerberg being dumped by his girlfriend; she informs him that while he believes that girls do not like him because he is a geek, the truth is, they do not like him because he is a major jerk. Brokenhearted and better over the breakup he starts a blog where he tears her apart by releasing very personal and derogatory statements about her. In an attempt to degrade all women, he creates a website called “FaceMash” where students can rate the girls by comparing pictures of them side-by-side. The site become so popular that the incoming traffic causes Harvard's network to crash, for which Zuckerberg receives six months of academic probation and becomes the number one most hated guy on campus by the female students.
