Infosys has reinvented India's corporate culture, valuing both data and democracy. Founded in 1981 by seven engineers, the Bangalore based company has become not only a $3 billion-plus technology services giant, but also the epitome of the modern, professionally managed Indian firm, with a culture of meritocracy. S. Gopalakrishnan, one of the founders and the current CEO, says Infosys built that culture from the ground up. "We said, if we're going to make it a success, there have to be some rules, some common values, some structure to the whole thing."

Infosys Technologies (Infosys) is an offshore service provider that provides end-to-end business IT solutions to clients including technical consulting, design, development, software re-engineering, maintenance, systems integration Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation (ERP), test and implementation, and infrastructure management services. The company also provides business process management services including offsite customer relationship management (CRM), finance and accounting, and administration and sales order processing. The company operates in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. It is headquartered in Bangalore, India and currently employs approximately 72,200 people.

The global delivery model at Infosys is aimed to provide high quality information technology services, by leveraging the highly skilled technical talent in India and other emerging markets. The GDM is a project management approach that separates the work into logical categories, distributes the work to locations where expertise is available at minimal costs to achieve project objectives. The GDM allows for cost control though better project management, higher customer satisfaction though consistent quality, and the ability to grow with out sacrificing quality.
