When searching for my topic I chose to use the EBSCOhost database and use the key word search by typing in Time management skills for college students in the search box and clicked on peer reviewed. I received over 2,000 results of articles and documents that had all been peer viewed. The title of the article is “Teaching time and organizational management skills to first year health science students: does training make a difference?” Three authors were listed for this particular article and their names are Barbara Adamson, Tanya Covic, and Michelle Lincoln. This article addressed a study that was done with the participation of over 400 students over a period of five weeks. Students were given a packet that communicated how to improve their time management and organization skills. The study determined that more research was needed because it was hard to figure out where to implement time into schedules that were already so very hectic. (Adamson, Covic, & Lincoln (2004).

For my second topic I chose to use the Gale PowerSearch database, using the same key word search option. By typing in distance learning in the search box, making sure peer reviewed and scholarly journals was selected, I was given more than 400 results on the topic. The article I chose is called “Differential effects of student characteristics on performance: online vis-a-vis offline accounting courses.” The authors’ listed were Sungkyoo Huh, John Jongdae Jin, Kyung Joo Lee, and Sehwan Yoo. The article speaks about whether there is a performance difference between students who attend class online and those that attend a traditional school. The factored in age, marital status, commuting distance, and work hours to see a difference could be found. After three years of monitoring students it was found that there was not a major difference in the performance of offline and online students. (Huh, Jin, Lee, & Yoo, (December 2010).
