Consider Jesus – It’s Benefit & Profit

Opening Question: “Give at least three things, you have benefited/received upon receiving Christ Jesus?”

Paul was in the dungeon, he wants the Philippi believers to be encouraged and teach them…

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion disseminate – Paul reminded the believers on what they have, on what salvation through Jesus Christ brought unto them…

Input – (divine motivation): As believer of Christ this is what we’ve got….

• You are being united with Christ (what an encouragement we have!)

• You experience His constant love (what a comfort from His great love, we have!)

• You encounter the work of the Holy Spirit in your daily lives, even we are weak, vulnerable to do thing on our own, still we are assured for Christ compassion and tenderness towards us through the power of the Holy Spirit while we are reading His word, praying on the throne of His grace, serving His people through spiritual gifts (What a great salvation we have from our great God!)

After establishing the above mentioned truths about our salvation (what it brought to us) instead of being proud (on the negative side) we should be humbled to those things, at first place we do not deserve anything. There is the warning…

Paul continued his plea to the believers. Let us read it.

then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.
