 What is your evaluation of Michael Dell’s performance in his role as Dell CEO and Chairman? How well has he performed the five tasks of crafting and executing strategy that were discussed in Chap 2?

   Became a CEO of Dell at the age of 27, Michael is the youngest CEO of a company ever to earn a ranking on the Fortune 500. In his role as CEO, his performance was excellent. Through his innovative way for marketing computers, he guided Dell from a small, start-up company into a global leader in PCs and IT Products and Services. He was very accessible CEO and a role model for young executives because he knew how to delegate the authorities to subordinates. He believed that the best results come from the talented people who can be relied upon to do what they are supposed to do. Michael Dell was also the chief architect of the company's direct sales approach and build-to-order approach. He had some achievements

 By 2003 Dell sell-direct and build-to-order business model and strategy had provided the company with the most efficient procurement, manufacturing and distribution capacities in the global PC industry

2004-2005 Dell overtook HP to become the global market leader in PCs

During 2004-2007  Dell reigned as the number one domestic seller of x86 service for Window and Linux with over 30% market share

 Michael Dell justified his excellent performance by performing well in all the five areas of Crafting & Executing Strategy.

He formed a strategic vision for Dell, which had five tenets. Four tenets were describing the vision of having a strong and direct relationship to customer, allowing customer to purchase custom-built product, creating nonproprietary and efficient technology and supply chain and company should endeavor to deliver benefit to customers. These four tenets were the key to delivering a superior customer values. He made sure that all company executive believe strongly in those five tenets....
