Abstract
David’s Bridal strives to make all of its customers satisfied with their experience at its many stores nationwide. This paper will focus on how David’s Bridal, the largest retail bridal chain in the U.S. and a place where the author previously worked from 2005-2008. The analysis will cover the how company reached the status that it has obtained today. The author will touch on the four frames mentioned by Bolman and Deal in the book, Reframing Organizations: Artistry, Choice and Leadership. Focusing on organizational goals, divisions of labor, vertical and lateral coordination reveals David’s Bridal has a good grasp on its Structural Frame. However, managers and employees at David’s Bridal must learn to better support one another in order to strengthen its Human Resource Frame. It was apparent the Political Frame was inadequate when managers tried to please everyone and the store ended up short staffed. The Symbolic Frame is the strongest frame of this company. David’s Bridal continues to be a one stop shop with affordable dresses and great customer service. Lastly, this paper will discuss its competition, J.C. Penney, and how David’s Bridal can restructure its company to be more efficient and productive.
