Abstract

The discussion assigned for this week was a very interesting one. Starting with the “Prior Knowledge” part, reflecting on different leadership styles, what caught my attention from a leader that I admire and one that I did not respect. I have just recently gone through a similar situation. At the company I work with we had an amazing General Manager he was a great leader the way he conducted himself, always willing to help, took care of his employee and was a leader by example, not only by words but by actions. He for personal reasons had to move away and got transfer to another station we ended up with a very irresponsible, immature and unprofessional General Manager who never answered the emails or phone calls, was always in Facebook during working hours, doing personal things on business hours and playing Fantasy Football. The Teams morale was at its lowest by not having a General Manger to lead the way, we needed to find within ourselves and the passion we had for the job to deal with the situation for almost a year, now we are happy and glad we have been appointed another General Manager that is kind, hard working, team player and a good leader. After considering this different leadership styles and researching about this I know what type of leader I want to be and what definitely I will avoid.
