Effects on Nutritional Information when Ordering Kid’s Meals ii
Abstract
In today’s society, being healthy is of the utmost importance. Research has shown that the children of today are faced with many challenges and obstacles, one being the saturation of fast food restaurants on every corner of major intersections, in destinations such as malls or shopping centers. While examining the pros and cons relating to ordering healthy meals in these fast food restaurants, the objective of this study is to define the impact of having nutritional information displayed in the customer contact zone of the restaurant, having internet accessibility of the fast food brand’s corporate website where nutritional information is posted has any affect (profound or not) on the dining decisions made for school-aged children. The survey that was distributed to parents of school-aged children was limited to 40 respondents. Through a 20 question pen and paper questionnaire, the consensus for those parents who responded overwhelmingly indicated that they saw the nutritional information posted in the restaurant but that it didn’t change the way they ordered food for their children, but it would in the future.
