Moringa oleĆ­fera

The Moringa oleifera is a tree native to India and in Asian and African countries have long used

Moringa pods for food because it contains properties for the recovery of malnourished people and fight numerous diseases.

Moringa leaves have been used in the traditional medicine passed down

for centuries in many cultures. Now they have also attracted interest in the

modern scientific community. And clinical studies show that natural medicine was not wrong.

The Tree

Moringa oleifera is the best known of the thirteen species of the genus Moringacae, all of which are trees of tropical and subtropical climates.

The Moringa oleifera is native to the Himalayan region in India, but has become native in many countries in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, the Caribbean and South America.

This tree is of very rapid growth in the first year you can develop and grow, reaching over 4 meters. It grows in semi-arid areas prone to drought or because you prefer well-drained soil, benefiting from some sporadic irrigation, tolerates clay soil waterlogging but not prolonged.

The flowers are creamy white and appear mostly in times of drought when the tree is usually shed their leaves.

Fruit: A pod, like a vegetable, but triangular in section, about 30 - 45 cms. long. The seeds are blackish, rounded and with a tissue as a "winged".

Tree is a very interesting and attractive shapes. Accepts pruning very well. They can be used as a shade tree hedgerows, living fences, visual and auditory display, even as windbreaks.
