Kudler Fine Foods (Kudler) is an upscale specialty grocery store, which provides the best selections of meats, seafood, baked goods, wines, and gourmet products (University of Phoenix. 2011). Kudler has locations in La Jolla, Del Mar, and Encinitas (University of Phoenix, 2011). Kudler recently restructured the company’s organizational strategy and is making a concerted effort to provide its customers with the highest quality and level of service.

Kudler’s goal and objective is to provide its customers with the finest products, excellent service, and an unparalleled shopping experience and environment. To achieve these objectives, maintain its current success, and remain viable Kudler must create an environment, which motivates and challenges employees. Kudler must also ensure its current infrastructure and new compensation strategy aligns with the industry, thereby allowing the company a competitive advantage. Kudlers’ new compensation strategy will provide an opportunity for the company to refocus and reorganize the current compensation structure and job classification. Kudlers compensation structure should provide a clear linkage with the job analysis and job classification.

Designing jobs appropriately will provide a positive work environment, which will motivate employees and improve performance and job satisfaction. Kudler must employ an effective compensation structure linked to positive performance and efficiency to assist the organization in acquiring a competitive advantage, which will improve productivity and promote a better skilled workforce. Kudler new compensation structure will focus on six essential positions within the organization. These six positions include the store manager, department manager, cashier, stock-person, bagger, and specialty department worker (Core positions).
