Service Request SR-rm-004

The goal of this paper is to discuss and identify information-gathering techniques and design methods that I would use to complete Riordan Manufacturing Service Request. I will first discuss the different methods that can be used to gather information successfully and then I will explore the projects scope and feasibility.

Human Resource System Analysis

Service Request Form SR-rm-004 asks that the Human Resource department be analyzed with the intention of integrating their existing variety of tools currently in use into one integrated system. They have requested for the new system to be able to take advantage of the new state-of-the-art information system technology that is available.

Information Gathering

I will also need to analyze the current system to familiarize myself with their system and the requirements needed for the system to run efficiently. Collecting data from system users, procedural manuals, and in-house business reports will aid in ensuring the data is accurate, pertinent, and user friendly. Another way to gather this much needed information is to observe the end user as they implement the systems applications. Maintaining anonymity is essential when observing users as “observation can cause people to change their normal operating behavior. Employees who know they are being observed may be nervous and make more mistakes than normal.” (Valacich, George, and Hoffer, 2009, Essentials of System Analysis and Design, p.143)

Key Factors

Riordan Manufacturing SR-rm-004 Service Request Project’s success relies mainly on how the methods of information gathering are used and implemented. As the individual groups to...
