Sometimes words put an inappropriate substitute in expressing one’s feeling. They seem superfluous but ultimately they are the only means of expressing oneself. Words appear inadequate and hollow when we take this to our esteemed, reverend and erudite guide Prof. Pankaj Priya, Prof. A.K.Biswas for the help rendered to us and constantly encouraging us with his valuable suggestions. This dissertation bears at every stage, the impression of his profound knowledge, concrete suggestions and careful and reasoned criticism.

INTRODUCTION- The Story of Tata Sky
Tata Sky is a DTH satellite television provider in India, using MPEG-2 digital compression technology, transmitting using INSAT 4A at 83.0°E. It is a joint venture between the Tata Group, that owns 80% and STAR Group that owns a 20% stake. Tata Sky was incorporated in 2004 but was launched only in 2006. It currently offers close to 195 channels (As of August 2010) and some interactive ones; this count includes some numbers off HD channels offered by Tata Sky (as Tata Sky - HD) and interactive services also. The company uses the Sky brand owned by British Sky Broadcasting.
