Unit 2 Assignment

The classical theory to the management role is to focus on the task, the machines and the systems that are needed in order to perform the tasks efficiently. This approach has two components which are; scientific management and administrative management. Scientific management is there to improve the efficiency of work. The Administrative management approach focuses on the coordination of the workings of an entire organization. The classical theory has the assumption that work is a rational undertaking that is done just to make money.

The behavioral approach is for the management so they can understand the importance of the workers needs and their attitudes within the formal organizations. (“Studies shows that good social relationships in the workplace are what produce more output.”)

The systems approach views organizations as sets of interrelated parts to be managed. The purpose for this is to work together as one in order to achieve the goal. This organization consists of transformation processes, inputs and outputs, and feedback.

The contingency approach focuses on identifying the key variables in each situation and also by recognizing the causes and effects of managerial decisions.

I had a hard time deciding which one I think is more important because they all go hand in hand to run a business successfully. I will say that I think the Behavioral theory is important because if everyone understands what it is they are required to do and how to properly do it, then they can all get along and work together to accomplish the goals that they set for themselves and the company.
