Bride and prejudice is a movie directed by GurinderChadda, which uses themes of Jane Austin’s Novel, ‘Pride and Prejudice’. This movie revolves around a family, in which there are four unmarried girls, who live with their parents. Parents of girls try to find suitable husbands for their daughters. This movie is based on marriages and shows that how misunderstandings become barrier in relationships and how characters in the movie overcome these barriers to maintain their relationships. This movie contains a beautiful intercultural, love as well as arranged marriage of an Indian girl with an American boy.

One of the main issues shown in the movie is that how barriers to communication create problems in relationships of people. In the movie, Mr. Darcy, a businessman from United States shows interest in Lalita, an Indian girl from Bakshis family but Lalita thinks that Mr. Darcy is self- involved, and arrogant person. Mr. Darcy and Lalita argue many times in the movie because Lalita feels that Mr. Darcy underestimates Indian culture, this situation occurred due to experiential barriers, because they were unknown to each other’s culture. Occurrence of differentiation in opinions of intercultural people due to perceptual barrier can be seen when Mr. Darcy wants to buy a hotel in Amritsar, India, for tourists who come to visit the city. But Lalitadoes not want him to buy any hotel in Amritsar because she thinks that if people will stay in luxury hotels, they will not be able to observe real India and all of this happened because both of them were saying from their own perspective.
