Goal-setting process is one of the most important motivational tools for affecting the performance of employees in organizations.(Hellriegel & Slocum 2011,p.192) Allstate’s goal sitting process is broken down into four steps. Step one is succession programming. By picking candidates from different backgrounds, woman, and minorities , they ensure diversity. Diversity competency includes the ability to help people work effectively together even if their interests and backgrounds are different.(Hellriegel & Slocum 2011, ) Step two is development . After employees skill are properly assessed they are given a plan for advancement. Step three is measurement . The company used a survey to solve problems and improve work conditions. Step four is accountability and reward. Reward programs represent a powerful means for motivating high levels of individual and team performance. Part of the managers pay is based on the Diversity Index survey. This lets manager know how important their job is. Allstate Diversity mission is to sustain an effective organization that drive, a high-performance culture, which in turn enable higher productivity, higher moral, more innovation, collaboration, and rick taking.
