A mission statement is a description of the firm’s current task or business and market position (what the firm presently is), its vision for the future (what it intends to become), and how it plans to get to its future position (values and targets that will guide its actions toward the vision).

The Walt Disney Company mission statement is as follows:

The mission of The Walt Disney Company is to be one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information. Using our portfolio of brands to differentiate our content, services and consumer products, we seek to develop the most creative, innovative and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world.

In an analysis of The Walt Disney Company’s mission statement in which Disney’s task is to become one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information, the below listed theme parks were opened:

Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, California

Walt Disney World Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Tokyo Disney Resort, Urayasu, Chiba

Disneyland Resort Paris, Mame La Valle, France

Hong Kong Disneyland, Penny’s Bay, Lantau Island

In April 2011, The Walt Disney Company announced the planned opening of an additional theme park in mainland China - Shanghai Disney Resort. The Walt Disney Company’s high standard of doing business continues to gain worldwide brand name recognition. Clearly Disney, through its portfolio of theme parks, resorts, media networks, studio entertainment, consumer products, and technologically advanced innovations, has attained its vision. The Walt Disney Company’s corporate citizenship values are evident by its promise to act in an ethical manner; champion the happiness and well-being of kids, parents, and families; and, through example, inspire children and families to make a lasting and positive effect on our world environment.
