Writing errors, such as those identified in the readings for this week, may influence the way a reader interprets your writing. A résumé that is marred by grammatical errors, for example, may prevent a job candidate from progressing to the interview stage. Do you think it is appropriate for people to be judged based on their writing? Explain your answer.

I feel that is totally appropriate for people to be evaluated based on written material that they provide.

The written word is ubiquitous in our society. Therefore, clear writing should be the prerogative of all people. That way when you write down what you mean, people will understand it in the same way. People, however, are not perfect so errors in writing will always be made. In order to fix this problem people should seek help. Maybe if another person reads the writing and ventures their interpretation this will help. Rounds of writing, and friendly interpretation by others should result in a piece of writing that is clear and understood the same by all. I really have no sympathy for people that do not try as hard as they can to write good resumes. If they do not they will be judged, everyone knows this. On the other hand, people that utilize every ounce of knowledge and energy to write good resumes deserve to have first dibs on any job.
