Decisions in Paradise, Part 1

Kava, an island, is located in the South Pacific. It has a culturally diverse population which is fifty percent indigenous. The remaining population consists of Americans, French, Africans, and Spanish people. Although the island has many resources such as spices, sugar, bananas, and petroleum, it has a lot of things that make it an unstable infrastructure. Half of the population is ineligible to work due to being too young. There are also issues of a natural disaster occurring, like tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, tidal waves, and even earthquakes. Health issues also plague Kava, like HIV and the risk of getting the avian flu. There are even things like terrorism and fires to think about. Each of these things make the island appear not to be the place to set up a business. This island needs some assistance in getting itself cleaned up and recovering economically.

As a large company that is about helping the places that it is located in, Target Incorporated is determined to help Kava get through their disasters by using its many resources to do so. Doing this will not only help to fulfill Target’s mission, deliver the best value to its customers, use technological advances to service and help build the world’s global economy, but also be able to deliver high value to the company stockholders. This needs to be done because the resources that are in Kava are very important to the world’s sustainability. Target is willing to help this island get on a path to recovery, to grow and become successful.

An analysis must be made first so that Target can decide how they can best assist Kava. This would include the organizational issues that face Target and Kava along with the environmental issues. The way that these issues affect the shareholders must also be analyzed. This must be done to ensure that the best decisions are made for all involved....
