Abstract

Fleet maintenance cost is the leading problem for a fleet manager. Maintenance costs occur from fuel, tires, accidents and misuse of the vehicle. One of the highest expenses in managing a fleet are costs associated with tires. Fleet Managers are responsible for having a preventive maintenance schedule established which includes tires, however, tires are still the hardest maintenance issue to control. Tires are sometimes overlooked even by professionals. Research suggests Nitrogen tire inflation and advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System are programs which could reduce the maintenance costs associated with tires.
