Analyzing Credibility

The people who paid for this example to be created are progressive paid for the advertisement and CNN also paid for theirs. I do not believe that there was a slant in the Progressive commercial, but there might have been one in the CNN video. The CNN video reflects on 9/11 so that tells me that society is still in mourning about 9/11. It also shows me that 9/11 can be a way for running candidates of government positions to try and woo America. The Progressive commercial tells me that people can be easily won over by money. The savings and outcome that Progressive offers in their commercial shows me that they are trying to appeal to what society wants to hear about saving money. They are both credible since they both can prove what they are saying is true.

I am not skeptical of the sources credibility. I feel as though Guiliani’s sincerity came through the video, and the topic of 9/11 is hard to fake because of the memories and emotional feedback it creates. I believe he is credible, and that his feelings were genuine. Plus, he spoke a lot on facts rather than being bias.

I did not detect much bias but I did feel odd when he spoke of the developing Iraqi government. The bias really does depend on what you believe in. He believed in the developing government and seemed to reiterate that throughout the video. Overall, I believe he was not biased because it seems as though he was really just speaking his opinion.

Yes the ad makes a claim about how much you spend on car insurance and how much free extras you get from Progressive compared to the other car insurance. It also has a “jokingly” way of presenting this to the potential customer. The video also plays on the side of presenting excellent customer service. The claim is also proved as the video provides other cost for the car insurance for other companies.
