Finance and Accounting

The history of the four different locations of Riordan Manufacturing did not start with Riordan, but was acquired as the global plastics manufacturer expanded. Since they had different pasts, it is easy to see that Riordan acquired different legacy systems. During these expansions, the current F & A System’s compatibility was never addressed. This resulted in a lack of seamless compatibility in data and processes of handling the data. Some of the data is provided by digital files, with different formats which need conversion to one standard account codes. Other files are provided as hard copy, which requires manual data entry. Specifically, the consolidation of Rioridan Manufacturing Income Statements and Balance Sheets is labor intensive and all required auditing is expensive. All required reporting to the government is difficult and possibly outdated.

Sales and Marketing

Sales and Marketing of Riordan Manufacturing has no standard in place for record keeping or reporting. Current sales, customer information and records are maintained by the small sales teams that handle the specific clients. When looking at the individual sale teams, their methods work for their current needs, but sharing the information with other sale teams becomes confusing. Many of the sales team will utilize a database, but sometimes they will settle for a pencil and paper. This will result in an inconsistent list of information and makes it difficult to see the entire Sales and Marketing as one large group. Past marketing research, plans and design awards are all hard copy and requires extensive amount of effort to share this information across the entire company. All historical records are saved in disparate databases, paper files and microfilm.
