Controls are defined by any processes that direct the activities of individuals toward achieving a common goal. The Siamese twin of control is planning. They have budget controls, market controls, financial controls, Chan controls, budgetary controls, and a number of other controls and planning mechanisms that evolve throughout businesses being formed and created.

The way these controls are put into effect are by setting goals then measuring the goals by comparing them to standards that have already been documented. Then the deviation has to be determined and how the business will be put back on track to meet the original standard plan that was set in the beginning. Changes have to be made and then reinforced by management to meet the businesses objectives. Budgeting was one of the oldest and most efficient ways to create business and also to keep track of what was being spent and what was coming in. the market control was a good way to predict how it should be done by relying on the pricing set by the market. All businesses need to set a goal measure where they want to be and have some type of business plan to compare their progress. They make their assessment and then determine where they need to move to reinforce and continue their work ethic and reach their goal that should be realistically attainable. The best control method is the Chan control in which all workers know as much as the manager and are able to show them a thing or to about the job itself.
