I have truly enjoyed many of the concepts that we have learned in these past eight weeks, but enterprise systems have really perked my interest. If I were teaching the concept of an enterprise system to someone in a future class, I would present this topic in an easy to understand business format. I would explain that I see enterprise systems as complex mathematical problems that need to be solved with flawless perfection. Enterprise systems are complex high performance computer systems that support cross-functional programs on a common central database. Enterprise systems enable hierarchies of information and programs to simultaneously communicate with each other and with work stations of manipulation. Businesses that use enterprise systems usually do so through the needs of human resources, sales, marketing, finance, and manufacturing processes. The four main types of enterprise systems are business intelligence (BI), customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and supply chain management (SCM) enterprise systems. Enterprise systems have the ability to input and record important data to be processed into visual graphs and charts for managerial statistics. These statistics help and lead managers and businesses to make much better scheduling decisions, finance decisions, supply decisions, and future direction decisions.
