Eating healthy is the best way to keep the body up and in good health. Due to unhealthful eating, most people in America are facing a crisis with heart disease and other conditions linked to unhealthy eating. Eating healthy may help a person to lose weight and aid in the prevention of heart disease. Moreover, knowing about heart disease and other conditions that is linked to unhealthy eating is the first step to prevention.
Eating foods high in calories could lead to a health condition called obesity. Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or health problems (including heart disease). Many times obesity is passed from generation to generation. The unhealthy eating habits are passed on for years. A great way to maintain a healthy weight and to improve overall health is to consume a healthy balanced diet. This includes avoiding foods that are low in overall nutrients (such as candy and soda pop) and limiting intake of trans and saturated fats, cholesterol, sodium, and foods with a high glycemic index. So many people are overweight that it is getting to be the norm. This allows for careless attitude that doesn’t do anything to help prevent out of control eating. Therefore, preventing obesity can be the key in the prevention of heart disease. According to Susan Patterson (2008), here are a couple steps in the prevention of obesity. Start with desserts to remove refined sugar and replace it with fruit. Eat a smaller portion and eat on smaller plates. Prepare healthy snacks and record each intake that is consumed. Plan meals, keep a schedule and eat several small meals a day, never eat large portions of meals or eat watching TV.
