I.P Address Reprogramming

Discussion: The software for the operator control GUI is hosted upon the GICS emulator workstation. Consequently, the IP address for the Link Interface Assembly must be configured. Perform these steps to reprogram the LIA IP address to facilitate communication to the host workstation:

• Connect a null-modem RS-232 cable on the rear of the LIA and the serial port on a laptop PC.

• Open Hyper Terminal on the PC. Configure the port for 9600-baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity and flow control Xon/Xoff.

• Apply power to the LIA and immediately begin tapping the space bar on the PC to interrupt the LIA boot process.

• From the VX works prompt, type P to display the boot parameters. The boot parameter list should look like this: (Data was copied from LIA). “Inet on Ethernet” is the parameter that sets the IP address that allows the LIA to communicate with a host workstation.

Boot Device :rd

Unit Number :0

Processor Number :0

Host Name :nethost

File Name :/rd0/dst/bin/vxPPC604sens/sc-k2-nogui.vxw

Host Inet :172.25.1.108

Startup Script :+gh-emd/sc-vx

• Type C . You may now scroll through the various settings on the boot parameter list starting with the “Boot Device” setting at the top. Typing will leave the current parameter unchanged and select the next parameter.

• Continue typing until the “Inet on Ethernet” parameter is reached. To change the value, type in the new IP address and Subnet mask and hit .

• Continue typing to scroll through the parameters on the remainder of the list.

• To check the new value, power cycle the LIA and monitor Hyper Terminal. The updated I.P. address will be displayed as the LIA performs its boot sequence.
