During my research for this paper trying to answer questions regarding servant leadership, I come to realize that a servant is not always someone low on the totem pole. I am trying to answer questions regarding servant leadership and the characteristics that were found thru my research. Before I get into characteristics though would like to discuss what a servant leader is.

I am not sure if I understand what servant leader is but from what I gather it is an approach in leadership techniques that encourages leaders to serve the organization while staying focused on their own integrity and values. “At heart, the individual is a servant first making the conscious choice to lead.”

The main objective for a servant leader is to improve the individual growth in the company and to increase teamwork and more involvement from the other employees.

Although I believe servant leadership to be many things, there was one person I would consider to be the ultimate which was Jesus Christ since he was a leader and also a servant to God. If you think about it, he possessed these characteristics of a Servant-Leader which are Listens, has empathy, and heals relationships, self awareness, art of persuasion, foresight to foresee a likely outcome.

Servant leadership is not about helping themselves but by helping move people to their full potential. His or her key role is to support and help develop their self awareness as team members. First and foremost is that servant leaders commits to their employees to the best of their ability. Another key component is their moral compass of always taking care of the employee first.

In the company I work for I see these qualities in my supervisor who is very good a delegating work that needs to be done in a timely manner. I believe she has made me better at...
