Kudler Fine Foods Computer Information System

Kudler Fine Foods is in the business of providing specialty foods to the San Diego metropolitan area. The company has three locations that provide the best domestic and imported food in these five departments: fresh bakery and pastries, fresh produce, fresh meat and seafood, condiments and packaged foods, cheese’s and specialty dairy products. Kudler Fine Foods prides itself with possessing the knowledge to help each customer have a delightful and pleasing shopping experience (Intranet home page, 2009).

Kudler Fine Foods has a Retail Enterprise Management System (REMS) in place. The system has a finance and accounting module that consists of the general ledger module, the accounts payable module, the POS (point of sale) module, and a bank reconciliation module, along with a security system in place. The company also has several databases, which include a customer table, an inventory table, an item table, an order table, an order line table, a store table, a supplier table, a tax table, and a tender table. The following will discuss how Kudler Fine Foods is using the information systems in the accounting department and how improvements could be made to the system that is in place.

Key Business and Accounting Information Needs

After reviewing Kudler Fine Foods current system the main business need is to have an integrated accounting system that allows all modules of the system to communicate with each other. If this change was brought about the company would be able to eliminate some of the duplicate data entry into the different parts of the system.
