A Student Survival Guide would have been of great use to me these past few months.Through out this guide I will be offering tips on a few topics: Using the Educational Resources; Academic Honesty; Setting and Achieving Goals; Time Management; Reading Comprehension and Retention; and Applying Personality and Learning Styles. The goal of this guide is to reassure anyone who may read it that, it is not as hard as it may seem in the beginning. Following the simple steps and details, of which I outline in this guide. Distant learning with Axia College will be simple, and fun.

Using Axia’s Educational Resources

Learning Online can be scary for most people at first. You may ask yourself a lot of questions at first. How does it work? What if I am having trouble in certain areas? Where do I get my reading materials? When you need to locate your Course Materials and Course Syllabus, you go to the Axcess icon located on your home page. There you can click on the different resources. There are many ways to view your reading assignments. You can download it straight to your PC or Handheld. Also instead of having to read the material, you can also download the audio on to any Portable devices, Mp3’s, I pods etc.

There will be times when you have to use the University Library for research. They offer a tutorial for students, to guide them with navigating the library. The library has three different search hosts. You can use the three to search for your article information. When searching for article information, be sure to use specific details in your wording.

Use keywords when performing a search. When the search engine finds matches for you, it is up to you pick the proper one according to what you are researching. Always choose a Peer-viewed article.
