Testing a Theory

A theory is a well-established principle that has been developed to explain some aspect of the natural world. A theory arises from repeated observation and testing and incorporates facts, laws, predictions, and tested hypotheses that are widely accepted. A hypothesis is a specific, testable prediction about what you expect to happen in your study. Keeping that in mind I remember when I first got out of high school and into the work force, I was in for a major surprise. At 19 years of age, I became a Diesel Mechanic working on heavy equipment and this would prove to be a heavy, burdensome load to bear. Nothing about the job was easy and I became really negative, soon I began to have trouble at work and was after several months unable to concentrate. Then I was approached by the owner of the company who was told that I was having doubts and was also becoming very sloppy at my work. Since this particular person hired me and had such lengthy conversation with me, he wanted to find out what was going on since it was out of character for me to behave so irrationally. After having a great talk about the feelings that I was having the owner decide I needed a job placement counseling program which would help out tremendously.

I began to attend the sessions and the task was simple, I had to teach myself to view things positively and always get my thinking on things other than what irritated me, about any given situation I was in. I began to see that my life was under control of, “The Chaos Theory.” A way to describe chaos is that it is deterministic, yet unpredictable. Deterministic means that with every cause there is a sane and logical effect. Consequently, in a chaos manifestation, you can get random results from logical equations, and a sequence can be found in what appears to be random data.
