Jeffery only reads at about a fourth- grade level at the age of seventeen. When Jeffery entered school he met the eligibility to receive special education services and in this process was classified as having a learning disability. The process and procedures to be followed after the initial identification of a student disability which that being Jeffery include developing an Individualized Education Program (IEP),placement, and also an annual review and initial three year re-evaluation .

THE initial Individualized Education Program is one of the first processes that is truly important once the student has been classified with a learning disability. The definition of IEP that is recognized by most educational organizations is defined on the website www. Concordspedpac.org, as an Individualized Education Program (IEP) described how the program that has been designed to meet every child with a disability’s needs. Every child who may or who will receive some form of special education and related services must have an IEP in place. The IEP must be designed for each student and must be centered on that student’s needs, but must also include document from all involved. The IEP creates an opportunities for those teaching personnel, parents , school administrators (which may include Board members) , service personnel, and the student to work together so that education is a success for children with disabilities whether be a learning disability, or physical disability.
