Introduction
Movies are mostly fun for people, they don’t always think about the story or meaning behind it. Screen/story writers and directors do tell more in a film then normal people will see or understand. This slightly is the case with the movie we are going to analyse: “Slumdog Millionaire”. Screenplay written by ‘Simon Beaufoy’, directed by ‘Danny Boyle’. The movies is adapted from a novel ‘Swarup, V. (2005). Q & A’ In this analysis we are going to talk about 3 main things: the plot‐story, cinematic apparatus and cultural referential framework. These subjects will be divided in different sub categories. The main reason why we picked this movie is because one of us has never seen it and it was a highly recommended movie in 2008.

The PlotStory
The story is about the 18 year old Jamal Malik who lives in the slums of Mumbai (India). He appears on the Indian version of ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’. Jamal exceeds the expectations of the people and also the police. Therefore he’s held for questioning and ...
