There are many reasons why I feel strong about obtaining an education and why it is important and should be important to everyone. Education is something that everything can gain from because it is a great accomplishment that a person can reach. Yeah, it may take a long time to attain but look at what you receive from it, a lifetime of happiness.

When my sister was only 13 years old, she had her first baby. With the knowledge of knowing both our parents never received a college education and barely graduating from high school themselves, she had to drop out of high school in the 9th grade in order to care for another life which ended her own. From then on, I witnessed what it is like to not have an education. Growing up alongside her, I saw what my family had to go through to support my sister and her child. Sometimes I think to myself about her, what if she never got pregnant? What would her life be like today is she would’ve finished high school and graduated from college? Even though she has no regrets for being blessed with an amazing son, still to this day, she regrets not accomplishing the one goal she always had, achieving an education.

Seeing my sister and my parents struggle most of their lives just to survive, allows me to push harder for my own education. Although there is a great amount of pressure that is placed upon me, with this reason installed in my head, I feel there is nothing that can stop what I am trying to reach. I graduated from high school and now I am a junior in college. I am determined and motivated to work harder because there is nothing worth more to me than having my education.
