Overview:

The business of choice I will be working with through the semester will be Tyson Foods’ government commodities complex located in New Holland, Pennsylvania. I evaluated between Tyson Foods and Wenger Feeds. I was skeptical about working with a company either too big or too small. This was one of the major evaluating factors I processed. Would the information out there be too much or too little. Ultimately it came down to how much the information I have found interests me. Tyson is a very risky company with a rich background. Wenger Feeds, although its been around for several decades, is starting to go out in the radar as one of the east coast’s innovative feed providers. In the end I chose to follow Tyson Foods because I feel as though I have a lot more connections within the corporation to help with the resources I will need through the semester. I feel that it is an interesting company to follow. Although it is a big company there are sufficient segments to focus on individually. I am looking forward to learning more and more about Tyson foods and its vertically integrated strategies as the semester goes on.
