Criminal Content

In my opinion the objective of sentencing is to punish or discipline an individual convicted of a crime. When a criminal is convicted they should serve their time accordingly in order to rehabilitate themselves. There are several forms of punishment that can be administered, but one that I do not agree with is capital punishment. I think that capital punishment should be outlawed, because no one deserves death no matter the magnitude of the crime. I hope I am understood well, because I am not taking the side of the criminal because if one life has already been taken why take another. I feel that if a person is convicted of a crime give them their sentence and let them serve their time in jail. A lot of people do not realize what they have done until they have time to sit and think but it is too late then. Therefore jail time will give them months and years to think of why they did what they did. As far as aligning myself with an ideology I would have to choose being a liberal, because I believe a lot of people commit crimes because of what they saw when they grew up or listening to the people in their surroundings. The ideology I agree with mostly is conservative. Our country is hard on crime, and if the people would wake up and see that crime does not pay then they would not interact with it because there are many consequences that follow.
