5. Disney and Success (Chan Suet Yi)

5.1 Corporate Governance

To develop corporate governance, Disney is responsible to ensure the reliability of the relationship between the corporation and its stakeholders. This ensured reliability leads the company to survive in the market for a long period because it is more systematic. Disney also improved the economic value for their shareholders in terms of dividend by managing the company resources in an efficient way. This efficient way of managing company’s resources means that they would use minimum resources to produce a maximum output where eventually would lead to a bigger profit margin. Besides that, the CEO of Disney has regular meetings with the non-executive board members to keep up with the opinions and criticisms on the performance of their executive and the strategic direction of Disney. Moreover, Disney also has frequent reviews about the risks that the company may face with the non-executive.

5.2 Corporate Social Responsibility

Disney in Istanbul develops corporate social responsibility by encouraging Disney’s visitors to get involve in their charitable activities. Moreover, the company also includes their belief of social responsibility into the corporate vision and mission statement to make known the society about the notice of the responsibilities of Disney. A public announcement made by Disney about their social responsibility and reports their success have also helped the company to gain its reputation. Other than that, Disney has also improved its corporate social development by recognizing the achievements of their stakeholders. For example, Disney awards those employees who had surpassed their quotas and achieved high performance for the month. This helped Disney to gain its reputation as well as respect from the society by building up a good image of a responsible and ethical corporation.
