How many jobs will be lost overseas? No one can answer this question. American’s can stop this onslaught of lost jobs, and maintain its superpower status, by recognizing this problem. The American resources are what make this country a leader in innovation, and gives Americans the highest standard of living. America is on the brink of making a decision that will affect this generation and many others to follow. Americans must come together to prevent the erosion of its resources. The outsourcing of jobs creates the reduction of the middle class, weakening the knowledge base, as well as lowering the power of the American dollar.

Reduction in the American middle class is a byproduct of out sourcing jobs to foreign countries. “The income gap between the rich and poor has risen.” (The income, 2005, p2) The reduction of the American middle class is due to the jobs outsourced is the jobs that maintain the American middle class status. “Since 2001 more than 750,000 high-tech sector jobs are outsourced.” (Outsourcing, 2004, p2) Jobs lost are in the computer information industries as well as call centers. America needs to keep these jobs, while learning to be more competitive in the global market. Companies employing foreign countries workers are only trying to make a profit and stay in business, but American’s need to stand together and create a strategy to compete with foreign countries. The very existence of America being a super power depends on its ability to compete in the global market.
