TITLE: EDEN LODGE RECORDS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Project Proposal

Background:

Eden Lodge is located in Vumba, in Manicaland province. It is located in the flamboyant and scenery-rich eastern highlands. It offers a variety of services ranging from horse riding, swimming, site seeing, golfing, offers overnight accommodation with state of the art bedding and competent menus.

It is well established in 1990 and its rising with the tide in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. It has however been struggling to be the market leader due to constraints .Some of the constrains include inability to have a well suited records management system due to lack of expertise and lack of initiative and purpose. These and other factor have created the motivation for this project

1.0 Executive Summary.

Eden lodge invested in a Hotel Information System about10 years ago. It bought the system in its quest to aid its operations. The character-based system was strongly biased towards the Reservation and Guest Service Management modules. It however included mediocre performing modules such as Billing and Stock Control modules. At the time of purchase, almost a decade from now, the system satisfied most of the organization’s requirements. The software development company that developed the system has since relocated to the Republic of South Africa (R.S.A.). Payments for licensing, trouble shooting, maintenance and updating outdated modules have become a major constraint and great challenge to the company the relations between the two companies have been stretched due to an un paid maintenance dept between the two companies.

This unfortunate predicament has prohibited Eden lodge from keeping abreast with pertinent organizational dynamics within the industry to remain competitive and viable. With...
