In this case study we will be able to understand how the different models of

leadership impact the culture of the BMW. Much of the BMW success is because they

have adapted the idea to provide a place where the workers feel connected, BMW as a

company is based in commitment to their workers and less hierarchichal barriers.

Describe the culture of BMW.

It’s important to explain the term of organizational culture before describing the culture at BMW. The organizational culture has various roles in the society that are to be performed, including the cultural values which impact the person’s behavior at work. The culture at BMW is entrepreneurial which is rare in corporate Germany. The committed associates are overcome with a sense of place, history and mission. As more important the buyers may not know, that they are driving a vehicle that has thousands of impromptu brainstorming sessions.

On Petter Claussen comment about BMW: “The difference at BMW is that managers don’t think we have all the right answers. Our job is to ask the right questions”. (G. Edmonson, 2006). New hires have the opportunity to learn the BMW world when it began in 1959. Scholoch states: “I explain how we rebuilt the company with Quandt’s money and the power of the workforce, “and” “I tell them that’s the way it works today, too”. (p.155) BMW believe that every idea should make the driver’s experience as joyful as possible. Employees from all different departments are known to get together and work on a single project. This type of culture allows the employees to feel they are valued and that their ideas are appreciated.
