According to Cisco Systems, Inc. Website, they are they are “the worldwide leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate” (Cisco Systems, Inc., N/A). The electronics that they manufacture are vital for organizations across the globe to function. Cisco assists its users in connecting to the Internet all over the world. This paper will look at the cultural values of Cisco Systems and how communication and their organizational values play an important role in the success of this corporation.
Cisco Systems Culture
Cisco Systems is a very diverse organization. The company is continually evolving while maintaining their core values. Cisco Systems CEO John Chambers said “at Cisco we believe community belongs to everyone and connecting and collaborating with others is a key element of our culture" ("Inclusion & Diversity - Cisco Systems," 2010) regarding their culture. Innovation, creativity, and positive surroundings are three cornerstones that their culture promotes. Cisco Systems also encourages their employees to volunteer in their local communities. In the past 10 years Cisco employees have contributed more than one million volunteer hours (News@Cisco – Corporate Overview, 2010.) Cultural adaptability is an essential component in the hiring process of Cisco Systems. By hiring individuals who can easily adapt to the values and philosophy of Cisco Systems they can provide exceptional customer service. Cisco Systems can align their enacted values with the declared values held by their employees through the promotion of their culture. As a result, Cisco Systems is able to maintain a respectable image among its employees, customers, and business partners.
