Final Paper

When deciding on how I should approach this paper on my community, I decided the first thing that I explain is the population of my city and then get into more about my community. Also within this paper, I am going to answer questions about the people who live in my community, and do they look like me, this is all apart of what I will show the population of the city is. I will also talk about how the leaders treat both people who look like me and those that do not, and how do other members of the community treat all the races. What are some similarities and or differences between me and my other community members? Are the minority groups represented well within the community? Are other any inequities that could be resolved within the community and what would I change?

I live in Indianapolis, Indiana and according to the 2010 Census data there are 903,393 people living within the city (U.S. Census Bureau, 2011). I could not get a breakdown of the different races within the city from this, but I did get a one from looking at the city data website. According to that website, the largest group of people living within the city of Indianapolis would have to be the white population, which I belong to, followed by the African American population, and then followed by the Hispanic population. As of 2009, the website tells us that the white population was at 62%, the African American population was at 26%, and finally the Hispanic population was at 8% (City Data, 2010). This actually makes sense to me because I see a lot of white people living close to me, with the occasional African American or Hispanic, and normally only see the black community when I travel to the west side of town or when I go downtown.

Since most of my community is white, we are treated very fairly by the leaders of the community, except for the occasional bad apple that pops up within any place. Whenever...
